Congratulations, Melinda Katz!

Back in June, there was a lot of excitement when Tiffany Caban appeared to have won the Democratic primary to become the new Queens District Attorney.  (Since this is New York City, the Democratic primary pretty much is the election.)  Caban, who was backed by the Democratic Socialists and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was reported to have an 11,000 vote lead over the establishment choice, Melinda Katz.

Then the absentee ballots were counted and it was announced that Melinda Katz was up by 20 votes.  And now, after a recount, Katz has been certified the winner and Caban has conceded.  The final tally has Katz winning by 55 votes.

55 votes!

Sometimes, your primary vote does make a difference.
